Miss Joann Gilliam has been the principal at Riverside School since the 2019–2020 school year. She holds a leadership degree from Western Michigan University. She is passionate about project-based learning! Ms. Gilliam came to Riverside School in 2018 with ten years of experience in education.

Mrs. Kristin Morlock teaches middle school (6th, 7th, and 8th grade) at Riverside School. She has taught at Riverside since 2016 but began her career in education in 2007. She holds both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Western Michigan University. She is passionate about literacy and connecting students with books they love, as well as guiding students to be the best version of themselves.

Mr. Brookshire is in his 23rd year of teaching and his fifth year at Riverside. He previously taught second and third grade in the South Bend Community School Corporation. Mr. Brookshire graduated from Western Michigan University. He is certified K–5 in all subject areas, K–8 self-contained classroom instruction, and grades 6–8 math and science.

2-3 Teacher, Class DoJo

Danielle Rosenthal is the second- and third-grade teacher at Riverside School. She is a passionate educator who believes learning should be an adventure. She graduated from Purdue North Central in 2013 with her bachelor’s degree in education and has spent her career finding ways to make math click for students. She believes in teaching students to be creative and kind. When she is not teaching, she enjoys spending time with family and friends. In her spare time, she runs a small jewelry business that helps her express her creative side.

Ashley Baldwin

K-1 Teacher

Mrs. Baldwin is the K–1 teacher at Riverside School. She is excited to join the Riverside community and begin her first year teaching here. With seven years of experience in education and studies completed at Western Governors University, she is passionate about hands-on learning and creating a classroom where students feel excited, confident, and loved. She strives to help children build a strong academic foundation while developing a love for school that will last for years to come.

My name is Annie McLean, and I am an educator who graduated from Central Michigan University in 2012. I am certified and endorsed in Cognitive Impairment (K–12) and Family and Consumer Sciences (K–12). Serving students with disabilities, as well as supporting all learners, is at the heart of my work. This is my second year teaching at Riverside, and I enjoy every day here!

Megan Nicks

Specials Teacher

Miss Megan Nicks is the specials teacher at Riverside school beginning in the 2025 school year. She has her bachelors degree from Grand Valley State University and a masters degree from Western Michigan University. Miss Nicks came to Riverside School after working at the children’s hospital in Ann Arbor, educating and supporting children and families while in the hospital setting. 

Rachel Hamilton

Paraprofessional, Tiered Reading Support (push in), UFLI Trained

Mrs. Hamilton is a paraprofessional at Riverside School. She has a decade of experience in this role and has been with Riverside since the 2022–2023 school year. She enjoys spending time with every Riverside student by visiting all classrooms throughout the day and overseeing the lunchroom.

Ms. K has a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Michigan University. She comes to Riverside with more than 30 years of experience teaching elementary math.
